Why I don’t Recommend 1-800Accountant, Pilot, and other big box Bookkeeping companies

So this is important to share because I think a lot of people may fall into this category. They feel stressed, they need someone quick, they speak with local companies and it feels out of their budget so they go with a big box company but do you know the difference between a big box company and a local provider?

The level of care.

A small bookkeeper cares about your books and wants to see you succeed. They want you to be able to take that vacation, and save towards your goals, and grow your business. A small bookkeeper wants you to succeed, does not take on more than they are capable, and shows up when you email within a day or two (allow more during tax season).

You need a bookkeeper who is paying attention. Who understands that mistakes can be made when people don’t pay attention and that a good set of books needs human eyes reviewing the numbers.

Here at Books in Harmony we collaborate with like minded clients to ensure they have accurate financials and, save them time, so they can make more and spend time with their families.

The trend I am finding more and more is that people go for someone who seems cheaper, but how does that story end? I find, in the end many people need to pay for services twice or have them corrected by someone who can give the level of attention and detail needed.

Does this resonate? If so, consider working with a local bookkeeper, it doesn’t need to be us, but if you are considering supporting your local economy, and peace of mind, working with a smaller company is the way to go.

As we are remote, we serve clients as far as New York and as close as San Francisco with their bookkeeping needs including set-up, clean-up, system, and strategy.

Just make sure you are prepared to be accountable and level up your business in collaboration.
